Why is Vtuber popular?

If we are going to discuss and talk about VTuber today, first we will have to know that what is a VTuber. VTuber is as known as Virtual Youtuber, some even called it V, VT, and more different names. VTubers are content creators who use Youtube as a live stream platform and upload their content. But I assume that everyone here who click on this article will know that who is the first VTuber, Kizuna Ai. You might not know but Kizuna Ai is already 5 years since her last release. Her birthday is 2016 June 30th so remember this date if you like her a lot! You could even call her the ancestor of VTuber.

Virtual Youtuber first launch in Japan, the noun are used by Kizuna Ai at the event in 2016 December, it is defined as a beautiful Youtuber with illustration style drawn by computer graphics. Even that there used to be some virtual character appears before, but they were not defined as Virtual Youtuber yet. That’s why in a period of time, Virtual Youtuber is Kizuna Ai’s synonym. Although that Kizuna Ai has 2.94 million subscribers, she’s still not inside the top 50 of Youtuber rank list, but in the Virtual Youtuber rank list, she is the top 1 out of all of them.

According to UserLocal, we can tell that behind Kizuna Ai will be Hololive-EN Gawr Gura, who has 2.48 million subscribers, have to respect the English market here. Then Kizuna Ai’s gaming channel with 1.54 million subscribers, the same person but double the effect, almost ahead 80% of the other VTubers. Next we have Hololive – Korone with 1.43 million subscribers, then Hololive – Pekora with 1.37 million subscribers.

Of course, there must be some reason why is VTuber popular, for example before Kizuna AI, people are already in love with Japan’s anime, holo idol Hatsune Miku and else. The statement of Japan companies used this tactic and “created” VTuber does make sense even that if it’s a piece of fake news. Meanwhile, VTubers also have their own time schedule where they play their games, do their shows, and almost everything. But the most popular will be ASMR, but I will not introduce what is ASMR here because that will be out of the topic here.

Because that VTuber does everything and play everything, so they gather fans from almost everything as well. Not to mention that people who like ASMR are at least 4 million out there, but only 3 million followed Kizuna Ai who barely did any ASMR. You can tell that its market is totally wide. This is one of the reason why people likes VTuber and of course their personality, their skills and etc.

But still, there are many disputes between VTubers and their companies, since I won’t discuss any further about what happened but I will show some example of the name, such as Akai Haato and Kiryu Koko, Four Kizuna Ai cases and many other different cases. Feel free to google them if you want!

But lastly, the advantage of reading until the end is here now, because I will introduce you the AVTubers that is expected online because Japan does love to make everything goes erotic I would say. Including VTubers, 2020 February 10th, a company named Emoechi (えもえち) published and announced that they will be the first company that makes adult content VTubers, as known as AVTubers. Rin and Reina who belongs to them also started to live stream in 2019, then slowly into erotic live stream, when the news came out, Japan and the worldwide online social media goes wild.
