Why is NFT so hated
For some game companies, NFT is very attractive. However, NFT is really inappropriate in the game. Game companies want to join NFT because they want to make money. This approach may directly replace the current micro-transaction system. Players do not like NFT mainly because they want to protect the environment of the game. Before NFT, micro-transactions, opening boxes, and the mechanism of krypton gold were one of the tools used by game companies to attract money. If NFT really becomes the mainstream of the game, consumers will be treated unfairly. Assuming that something is set to a high price after the NFT is implanted, it will be unfair to some players with low funds. If game developers make DLC into NFT products, the DLC will cause players to spend more money to buy because of price speculation. So many players choose to boycott NFT in order to protect the future of the game.
In fact, many game companies want to try to add NFT to their games, such as GSC Game World, the developer of Stalker 2: Chernobyl Heart. They announced that they will cooperate with DMarket to launch NFT content and introduce it into the game with the concept of meta-human. They said that NFT owners can become NPCs in the game, and there will even be more NFT content. However, they were still criticized by a group of players, so GSC Game World cancelled all NFT projects.
Game companies can enter the NFT market, as long as they don’t touch the game itself. Game companies can sell them in the form of pictures. Not only does it not affect the game itself, but it also allows the author to have enough funds to develop the game. Their concept map is something that can be used as NFT, not only to make money, but also to help the team’s artists gain exposure.
